Charity

Interesting. The three missions of the LDS Church (proclaim the gospel, perfect the saints, redeem the dead) will become the four "purposes," including the latest addition: to care for the poor and needy.

What do you think about it?

It's fantastic. The cynic in me wants to say "why wasn't that part of the mission in the first place?", but the optimist in me sees this as a wonderful step, and an effort I can wholeheartedly support and praise.

And hate on gays.

Five purposes.

I like it. The church is becoming more mainstream and less harmful to its members, promoting useful activities. This is my hope, at least.

Smells like a PR move to me, but I'm glad to see it anyway.

Sarah, I'm getting hooked on your blog. I've added you to the list on my own. Wanna see it?

It's all well and good, but it's an even number. As you well know, I like my principles in odd numbers and since anything over seven is going to be a strain to remember, we should only have 3, 5 or 7 of something.

rfin - is there a 5th you would recommend? ;)

Daniel's suggestion made me laugh, but I actually believe that one will be irrelevant in the next 50 years or so.
